This Arts and Crafts building, the former residence of the early 20th century actor William Gillette, was converted by the State of Connecticut into a museum. ABC was retained as preservation consultant for the Interior and Exterior Restoration. This project received the Connecticut Preservation Society Award.
VBA was retained to design a new church replacing the temporary structure used by the congregation. The underlying challenge was to provide a building suitable for worship and yet modest in cost. All aspects including form, size, materials, and finishes were carefully considered in order to achieve a cost effective yet appropriately ceremonial space.

The project included the complete restoration of the wood paneling, coffered ceiling, stained glass windows, and terrazzo floor. The Park Slope Library is one of Brooklyn’s finest Carnegie Libraries. VBA created a Master Plan that could guide the Library through different phases of interior and exterior restoration.
